My takeout places are also some of my eat-in places.
Grand Sichuan St Marks
Hot Kitchen
Xian Famous Foods (St Marks location)
Zabb Elee
Szechuan Gourmet, 56th St. location
Great NY Noodletown
South Brooklyn Pizza
Stage Restaurant (the Polish lunch counter on 2nd Av. between 6th and 7th, not the deli in Midtown)Maybe Supper, but I think that's less than once a month, on average. Ditto for the Lower East Side location of 'inoteca.

On a more modest musician's budget...
But at this time of year with the greenmarket in full swing I eat out far less. (beats fighting the heat and the tourists)
Momofuku Noodle Bar
Momofuku Milk Bar
Momofuku Ssam bar (for duck at lunch)
The Brindle Room (hamburgers and doughnuts)
Xi'an (St. Marks)
Motorino
Grand Sichuan (or Hot Kitchen)
Joe Dough sandwiches (take out)
Ballaro (for espresso)
Taqueria Lower East Side (when I miss LA)
Russ and Daughters (okay, I don't eat there but I do go there and bring it home)I still miss the affordable sushi (saba!) at the place that became Misoya.

Thanks for these lists. Are Middle Eastern and Mexican restaurants not popular in New York?

re: MrGrumpy
I don't know if New York has much in the way of serious Mexican food [barring Empellón... which is rather a special case, like nouvelle Mexican cuisine], at least on Manahttan. Taquerías have certainly sprouted all over the place.
There are some very popular falafel joints [eg Taïm], but I presume most of their business is takeaway. If I lived near Gazala Palace or the [old, pre-Bourdain] Kabab Café in Astoria, I'd probably visit them at least once a month.
