I don't know if New York has much in the way of serious Mexican food [barring Empellón... which is rather a special case, like nouvelle Mexican cuisine], at least on Manahttan. Taquerías have certainly sprouted all over the place.

There are some very popular falafel joints [eg Taïm], but I presume most of their business is takeaway. If I lived near Gazala Palace or the [old, pre-Bourdain] Kabab Café in Astoria, I'd probably visit them at least once a month.

I probably get Mexican from Noche Mexicana on 101st/Amsterdam once a week. It's very good, very traditional, and cheap---but I didn't count it 'cause I mostly use it for take-out.

Middle Eastern, yeah, it's popular. If I still lived on the Upper West Side, Jerusalem Restaurant would be on this list. I don't like the St Marks location of Mamoun's enough to go there once a month - it's fine, and I'm glad it's here, but I don't go that often.

BK. Often at least once a week. I suspect I frequent Tabata Noodle and Troy Turkish Grill at least once a month as I'm constantly passing through the Port Authority terminal.

You should get a Chase Sapphire preferred - 2X Ultimate Rewards points on dining that can be transferred to a few airlines, including United.
