Thanks for that link about darts,

I was more looking for some info on what happened to 10 Downing Street...

      1. re: pRon

there was a 10 Downing Street restaurant on Sixth Ave in Downtown SD back in the 70's. Can't imagine this is what you're talking about, but if it is, it's long since closed. However, the restaurant's 10 Downing logo remains imbedded in the sidewalk in front of the original entrance to this day.

This is killing me- I can't remember.

          Is it now Dobsons?

          1. re: mcgrath

            That's the one!

I had some good times there back then...d;^)

            Thanks for the info,

            1. re: pRon

IIRC, Paul Dobson was the GM, and bought the place and called it Dobsons.

But I am old, and I'm forgetful.

                Thank you bud...d;^)

                I'm old and forgetful also,

It has been closed down for years and years. My grandfather ran that resturant along time ago. (Joe sr. Gauci)

                    Thanks bud,

Joe was a good guy he ran nice operation.

In fact one of old bosses took me there for 'contract negotiations', in fact the only time I've had beef wellington!

I got one out of a three game match from the #3 dart player in the world (Len Heard)...d;^)

My grandpa is quite the man. A lot of Maltese history. I was just spending sometime with him yesterday and he is still as sharp as ever.

                        Thanks for the update bud,

He must be quite old by now since I'm pushing 70.

And he was a fair bit older than I was...d;^)

Here's hoping you carry on his proud tradition!

Unbelievable to pick up this thread. I worked for your grandpa around '75 - '76 @ 10 Downing. My name is Hope. I have been married to an old dart pal of his, Vince for 30 years now. Time flies! Call me at 760-917-8226 if Joe is interested in a visit. It would be lovely to see him again. Please give him our very best regards!

Joe ran the Atlantis, too, didn't he?

                    2. re: Fake Name

No, Dobson's was the Press Club prior to Paul picking it up. The Press Club was across the street from the old Union Tribune building and shut it's doors not long after the UT moved to Mission Valley.

                      1. re: deckape

Huh. I recall the UT being on the same side of the street as what is now Dobsons.

It's been a long time since I was there, though...
