Hi! My family & I ( 3 adults, 5 kids under 12) are heading there on Wednesday evening. I am looking for a casual place with good Italian food. No "chain food places", please! Pizza, Pasta, Salads, etc... Please help me, very clueless about this area. Thanks.

  1. Casual Italian food good for a family Vincents Clam Bar, Carle Place - noisy, and a little further away Uncle Bacala's In Garden City Park. decent and serve cotton candy at end of meal.

    1. Not a hotbed of culinary excellence, but there's Pastrami Plus. Also, you could do a lot worse than Chipotle on Hempstead Turnpike.

      1. Three miles east on Hempstead Turnpike is Mama Theresa's. I've eaten at the one in Westbury and liked it.

Just saw likely too late for the original poster...

        1. Probably too late for you, but there is Frantoni's on Hempstead Turnpike, about 1 mile or so east. Their original place is in Williston Park, and is our go to pizza/Italian. They opened the new restaurant in East Meadow a few years ago, and it is similar in look to Mama T's, food is at least as good, and is very close to the Coliseum. Vincent's seems more like a chain. Uncle Bacala's is a little far, you can just as easily go to Pirandello's in Roslyn if you are going that far, and it's easier to get to. But Frantoni's would certainly fit your bill.

          1. Borelli's

Right across the streeet from the coliseum
Think it's been there over 40 years
