Tara Commons Nashua,NH WholeFoods maybe?

Driving by the other night I noticed the sign where all that new contsruction is, mentioning
something about a neighborhood something or other. Wasn't able to get any more info, as we weren't stopped at the light there, just wizzing by.

Just wondered if maybe that might be where WF might be going. Anyone know what the main reason is for that section of construction?

  1. I don't think there is enough room there for parking and the store. The website says it will have two office type spots, a bank, and then it has other room. My guess is they want restaurants and shops since it's supposed to be a neighborhood place. I believe they will be building townhomes/condos/apts adjacent to it.

then there are supposed to be 2 hotels built as well. my understanding is it all ties in to the technology park there....it's supposed to be a walk to work concept.

        Thanks.

a recent legit news story indicated WF has already signed a lease in Nashua, but they have corporate reasons for not releasing the location publicly yet. That would suggest an existing location.

Wonder if maybe the old K-Mart/Sears store in Somerset Plaza where MB, Applebee's etc
is. Next time I'm in that area, I'll pop by and see if there is anything going on.

            1. re: hummingbird

I would DIE but it would be rather bizarre for them to put it right next to a Market Basket.

              1. re: SuperGrover

There is nothing going on there....I visit that Market Basket weekly.

              2. re: hummingbird

A lot of times an anchor store will set restrictions for other places in a plaza setting. Even smaller stores may negotiate a clause to prevent competition from moving right in. While it seems like the space could work, I can't imagine MB allowing it to happen.

                1. re: solargarlic

Based on the drawings on the website link posted above, that Tara site is WAY too small for a WF. The site behind Old Navy/Best Buy hasn't seen any activity that I can tell. I think Nashua WF is pretty much vaporware at this point.

                  1. re: Msample

Wait, have we discussed the old Borders location? It is small, but there are some small WF locations....though one would think the first and only NH location should be big.

                    1. re: solargarlic

It's frustrating because the only places I can think of are either too small or already have a supermarket. Not too much virgin land in Nashua.

                      1. re: solargarlic

No way would Nashua zoning allow a supermarket in that space with such a small amount of parking. Not to mention a rather large Shaws just behind it. Like SG says, not a lot of options for a large new space in Nashua at the moment.

                  2. re: hummingbird

I drove by today, and there is fencing blocking off a portion of the parking lot in front of where Sears Essentials used to be. so something is going on over there.

                    1. re: rizzo0904

Its a MB! I just found out today while in the area and stopped at that MB. Needed

help with an item so a manager was called. He was very helpful. We got to chatting and he mentioned I'd like it better in the new store! Which turned out to be the old Kmart/Sears. It isn't a secret amongst the staff, as when checking out I mentioned the new store and the young man bagging said it would be nice.

They are thinking it will be sometime in the Spring of 2013. That may become my new favorite MB, right now I like the Nashua/Amherst one better MB, I was told owns that plaza. Not sure if I should have started a new thread, but if so I'm sure the powers that be will move it to its own. One more place to rule out WF.

            2. Back in 2006 they signed a lease for that new development that never happened back behind Old Navy on DW Hgwy.

They post quarterly telcon reports on their website listing where they have opened stores and where they have signed leases....can't find anything recent on Nashua.

finally found it. they signed in nashua back in 2011 in the 2nd quarter i believe. one would think they would start breaking ground...it's been over a year.

              2. Does anyone know what's going into where the strip mall burned down in Amherst a couple of years ago. I noticed construction going on there after visiting the new Trader Joe's yesterday and wondered whether that could be the spot for Whole Foods since the lot is big enough and it could be a stand alone location?

A Goodwill and a bank from what I heard.

                  1. re: SuperGrover

Dang, Amherst is a lot closer to me. I wish WF would just spill the beans and tell us where they're going!

                    1. re: Tedmom

Was reading in the Telegraph about the postal annex off exit 8 being for sale. Would that site be big enough you think?

Thanks, now that looks great. Stumped though with the "3 entry points from DW". Trying to visulize where along DW is enough space for it, without tearing something else down. Another thought to ponder. Especially with the mention of Spitbrook. Just went back and read it again, 3A is now throwing in another curveball. Ideas anyone? Isn't 3A mostly Hudson?

                    1. re: hummingbird

That's the old information for the center that was supposed to be behind Best Buy. Not happening anymore.

                      1. re: hummingbird

Its 3A till you get past downtown Nashua where it turns into old rt. 3. It looks like it might be some where around the old circuit city or Best Buy...hard to tell with the map though I blew it up.

                      2. re: Lorela

                        Nashua landing is dead.....

                        1. re: rizzo0904

Sorry folks...I guess I have to keep searching.

                      3. The WF site no longer lists Nashua, NH as a store in development. This may be due to the fact no address has been found. I never heard them going in the Somerset Plaza near MB, I think we have way too many MBs on Amherst St. I had heard there was a chance of them going in the old Building 19 which would make sense because it used to be an incredible grocery store. It is also stand alone with lots of parking. They are still carving out space near the Merrimack Premium Outlets so I don't know if they may be considering that area.

I believe Demoulas owns Somerset Plaza so there is no way it'll go in there.

                          1. re: Shadowagent

WF seems to have changed their site and the only stores in development shown are the ones with announced locations. There used to be a lot more listed if I remember correctly. Doesn't mean they still aren't working on putting one here I don't think.

                            1. re: SuperGrover

Was just on their site and YES Nashua is still on the list. The other list must be stuff opening real soon

                          2. I heard a rumor a few months back that Shaw's was holding onto the lease in the Merrimack plaza that is mostly empty (where Silver Maple was) but it is running out and they might sell that property. It would be big enough for a WF. Actually there are several places in Merrimack including along Continental Blvd that could be developed also. I guess we will have to wait and see. I thought with Trader Joe's expanding they would be anxious to get in the area.
