Confessions of a realty show editor

The only food show mentioned is Hells Kitchen, but it probably applies to most food realty shows, especially the 'interview' segments

"In the industry we call them frankenbites, where you put together one sentence from one answer, another couple words from another answer, another sentence from another day, and make it look like one interview."

"Hell's Kitchen is also edited a lot — they just manipulate the hell out of the interviews. It's really frankenbitten."

I take it for granted that anything a reality contestant says that's not on camera wasn't included in what they do show them saying. Sometimes you can even hear it. "Dude/Barbie/is just/killing/our team!" There was even an incident a few seasons back that showed Ramsay yelling at a chef with another already-gone chef in the background.

I read that Master Chef won't be back on until Aug. 14. True?

wouldn't surprise me, they don't want to waste new programming against the Olympics

True. They're pushing GR's "Hotel Hell" on Monday, 8/13. Although the TVGuide.com online listing doesn't show anything for Tuesday, 8/14 - doesn't show it as a repeat or new. So perhaps they don't know yet.

Do you think Ramsay is pushing too far with Hotel hell? Has he ever run a hotel?

I know I'll watch it either way tho :)

I'm not going to watch a hotel show. I just don't want to know.....

I doubt he's run a hotel. And yes, he's pushing it too far with Hotel Hell.

BBCAmerica ran a similar show a couple years ago, The Hotel INspector or something like that. They had an expert who has run a dozen hotels to do small hotels and B&Bs. I truly question WTF Ramsay has to do with hotels.

Ramsay in fact owns a hotel: http://www.gordonramsay.com/yorkandal...

One hotel does not an expert make, as much as I'm a fan of GR.

No of course not, but he does own a hotel. Frankly, the two I have seen so far a half trained chimp could figure out the problems.....

Just because you own a hotel doesn't mean you know how to run a hotel. Most hotel owners, other than tiny boutique hotels (more like big B & Bs), are not hands-on owners. They hire professional people to do that for them.

I just read on Delish that Gordon in fact holds a degree in Hotel Management from North Oxon Technical College.

Dana and Justin seem to be doing well

I think Justin will win - he seems to have (omg!) self respect and the others-not much at all

I think they will be the final 2
