review Azul Historica
We took friends traveling with us to DF to Azul Historica Friday night for dinner, based on recs from Chowhound. I had never been, but am a huge fan of Mexico City dining.
The appetizers ranged from excellent to good with the short ribs coming in at excellent and the venison appetizer and the cilantro soup coming in at just "good".
But sadly the entrees went from good to very poor. I ordered the fish in a cucumber broth. The fish was horribly dry and over-cooked. The broth was ok, but could not make up for the fish. They took it back after my husband pointed out how bad it was and brought a snapper veracruzana, which was fine, but took so long I didn't even want it. Two friends ordered the arachera, which was nothing like what I call arachera. Almost tasted as if the meat had been braised. Sort of mushy.
The service was ok, but again, not up to the standard I think of for DF. Waiters standing around chatting while I try to get someone's attention for more water.
The best meal we had was at Izote. Next time we hope to try some of the other recs from this Board. Just wanted to weigh in on Azul Historica.
