Lunch on Route 2 in Mass?

My husband and I are heading from Portland to the Berkshires for a quick overnight trip tomorrow (going to see Wilco at Mass MoCA - woohoo!). I'm wondering where we should stop for lunch along the way - we'll be getting on to Route 2 from 495 and then (obviously) heading west. I'm guessing we'll be ready for lunch between Leominster and Greenfield. Would love any suggestions. Thanks!

It may be too late but there is also a Polish Food truck just after the Wagon Wheel in Gill.

I've had good lunches at the Gardner Ale House which is a decent brewpub. Not too far off the highway.

If you can hold out until Greenfield, The People's Pint is also a decent brewpub with good food.

HA!, I just read the links provided above, where I recommended the same two places just a few months ago. :-) Sorry, that's all I got.....

This question gets asked pretty frequently. A quick search reveal these three within the past year.

That's ok! It's just that there aren't a whole lot of dining options out here, period. The good ones are pretty much universally agreed upon.

Feel free to ask follow-up questions!

Definitely the Wagon Wheel, a completely unique place.

yeah, that looks right up our alley. we'll be getting through there a little late for lunch, but it looks to be worth the wait.

Yeah, the problem is that there doesn't seem to be much before the Wagon Wheel. I wish we had more posters from the Leominster - Erving stretch to let us know about good options, but we don't. Moreover, any option on this stretch really involves getting off the highway and into the towns, without knowing if anything exists there. I'm sure the towns on that stretch have hidden gems, but nobody on here knows about them. Sorry about that. Wagon Wheel will, indeed, provide you with a good lunch, though.

the leominster to erving stretch is pretty bleak these days as far as i can tell. there used to be a couple of very good taco stands in leominster, as well as a decent chinese place, but they've all closed or changed hands, and i truly haven't been able to find anything decent to replace them.

It will be. If you have any interest in milk shakes have one there.
