best chicken scampi in boston
does anyone have any recommendations for a restaurant that has great chicken scampi?
I have been craving it lately and cannot find anyone who makes it (it must be a thing of the past).
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
"Chicken scampi" is an invention of Italian-American cuisine, with scampi referring to anything served in a simple garlic and white wine sauce, most typically seen as "shrimp scampi". (Scampo, plural scampi, originally refers in Italian not to a specific preparation or sauce, but to a small Mediterranean langoustine, usually served as just the tail portion, for which shrimp is commonly substituted in the States.)
I imagine you can find many Italian-American places in the North End and elsewhere that will do chicken in a white wine and garlic sauce but not necessarily call it scampi. Or you can find a place that does shrimp scampi (Rino's in Eastie, The Daily Catch, Artu, Pomodoro, Gennaro's 5 North Square in the North End, and both locations of Giacomo's come to mind) and ask them to do it with chicken.
