Good tamales in Edmonton?
Last Saturday we were "cruising" 118th looking for food places along the avenue to try and after buying some empanadas at the "Handy" bakery ( the kitchen was closed for holidays) we ended up at the Rancho where we enjoyed some tamales. Thus I rediscovered my taste for tamales and was wondering where else in Edmonton one can buy good tamales.

Sorry, I don't actually have a tamale suggestion. I just wanted to ask you about Rancho. I did not know there were any good tamale places in Edmonton.
Did you mean El Rancho the Spanish place? Never been there and this seems like a good excuse to check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Yes , it is called El Rancho Spanish Restaurant, at 11810 87 St .
It is not about food from Spain ,however, as most of the menu items would be considered typical of Central America or Mexico. -

The rest of their food isn't super authentic mexican fare, so I'm not sure how authentic their tamales are, but my favourite tamales in Edmonton are from Three Amigos on the south side - but again, I'm not really sure what authentic tamales are supposed to taste like. I just know that these ones make my taste buds happy.
