I am coming to visit San Diego and looking for a sushi place that is similar in style to Sushi Sasabune in LA. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Ota might be closest, but it is more like Zo or Mori in LA than Sasabune (which in my opinion is a good thing). Not saying that Ota is comparable to either Mori or Zo (because it is not), but it's pretty close.

If you are dead-set on looking for pre-sliced sashimi with warm, loose rice a la Sasabune, I am at a lost for you.

    1. I've never been to Sasabune, but from the reviews I've read you can get a much better experience and quality at Kaito sushi in Encinitas for a fair price.

Sushi Dokoro Shirahama in Kearny Mesa would be a place to try as well

Kaito is not really the same style as Sasabune.
