my bad. Russian River Brewery, home of Pliny the Elder and the infamous Pliny the Younger, beers.

Not to be confused with Russian River wines, which I believe is really great too, but not included or attached to the brewery, I believe they are separate.

and the brewery is in the santa rosa area.

the R.R. brew pub is pretty much in central downtown S.Rosa. you have plenty to choose from, including some pretty nice north-calif wine country cuisine places in the high-moderate price range, depending on how far you care to go. the brew pub itself has basic pub food including pizza, which was average when we tried it some years ago. some brew pubs in the wine country have attempted to raise the level of their food, but R.R.'s ales are so (deservedly) successful they might have ø motivation to do so.

maybe within walking distance, because if we had more than a couple beers or a half dozen tasters we ain't gonna driver, so if you have any thoughts that's great ?

also, is there any nightlife that's decent or existent beyond drinking there ?

            thanks.

Rosso pizzeria is about four blocks from the R.R. brew pub, but have only eaten their mobile pizza oven's product, which was quite acceptable. as a senior citizen, have no say in what's appropriate nightlife for young'uns. we have yet to eat in S.Rosa restaurants, but have enjoyed the cooking from some of the places at charity fundraisers that feature food and wine tasting, and those restaurants aren't in walking distance from the brew pub. we always enjoyed our visits to Santi, which moved from Geyserville to S.Rosa, but have yet to visit the new incarnation, and it isn't close to downtown. [oops, just found out that Santi went out of bidness more than a year ago. people from Santi ended up in two other places we've continued to enjoy, but one is in Healdsburg and the other in Geyserville].

RR Brewing is on the edge of downtown where most of the restaurants are. Santa Rosa seemed pretty dead at night.

In Santa Rosa, I'd go back to Willi's Wine Bar (casual restaurant, great food) and Lola's (great cheap taqueria attached to a Mexican supermarket).
