cutting board blotchy after seasoning with mineral oil

I just bought an end grain acacia cutting board from William Sonoma and seasoned it with mineral oil. It has a blotchy appearance now after seasoning it. Anyone else have this problem?

Are you talking about mineral oil stain. Our friend TraderJoe has a take on stain:

"Mineral deposits form in damaged areas of the wood..."

as the oil soaks in the blotchy appearance may disappear. Keep oiling it. You may want to apply some bees wax after it's taken a fair amount of oil.

Thanks. Do you know what caused the blotching? And why beeswax?

Uneven uptake. Just keep doi9ng it. The beeswax helps keep the oil in the wood
