On the Waterfront

We wanted to get out of the "house" last night and with no real plan, we wandered around the waterfront. Stopped into the new City Landing (x Sel de la Terre) which had just opened. A few minutes at the nearly empty bar watching the bartenders chat among themselves, and we decided to move on.

Ended up at Pasta Beach where we had a great pizza and a few glasses of wine, very friendly and professional staff..We'd heard good things from friends and will definitely return.

  1. Darned shame about City Landing, you know what they say about first impressions.

I dislike speaking ill of a new restaurant;knowing how hard it is to get 1 going; but I have to add that we ran into neighbors/friends outside the front door of City Landing who had the same non experience as we did. Hope they pull it together. SLDT was a favorite.

    2. Good to hear about the pizza at Pasta Beach. We had one brunch there and enjoyed it. Good hollandaise, nicely-dressed greens and very friendly service. We'll return.

      1. My friend went there for lunch the other day and got clam chowder- she said there was ONLY ONE CLAM IN IT. Apparently this is a thing? Shouldn't clam chowder have more than one clam? Not just a single, decorative mollusc?

To be fair, the menu says the clam chowder has 1 fried clam. Could there have been others in the broth?

To be fair and you are reponding to my post, the GM posted here and apologized (deleted properly per CH rules) but i think it's significant when a restaurant rep responds to a customer complaint.

I'll give them another shot;because of the GM's post; but note that the menu DOES say 1 fried clam. It's their thng and I probably won't order it.

Pasta Beach is incredibly underrated in my opinion. Not that it will blow anyone's socks off or anything but you almost never hear it mentioned and it is a very solid, affordable (at least for the area) option in that part of town.
