Good Eats in Winnipeg?

TSAW Jul 28, 2012 07:30 AM

I'll be heading out to Winnipeg & Lockport area to visit family next month. As the trip falls on my birthday, I'd like to find a decent restaurant to go to for the ocassion. I absolutely do not like sushi but am open to most other things.

Any Chow Friends have suggestions for a nice b'day dinner for about 6 people?

Segovia, but they don't take reservations, so you'd have to get there early (like within an hour of opening time).

Failing that, I'd go to Deseo. They take reservations, I think.

Thanks prasantrin. Segovia looks like they only have 8 items on their menu (from what I see online). Deseo looks pretty darn good! Now I just need to convince my 'meat & potato' family!

      Thanks for the tip.

The first page of the online menu has only 8 items, but the second page has the "tradicionales" section (9 items) and the charcuterie and cheese section (5 items--the charcuterie board is a steal).

I forgot about Bistro Dansk. It would suit "meat & potato types well (how can you go wrong with schnitzel and roasted potatoes?), and it's very well-prepared food. They take reservations in the evening. And you could have hazelnut pie for dessert! It might be a better choice for your family if they're not terribly adventurous.
