Good food, casual atmosphere for first date in Bergen County?

Looking for something casual, but with good food, and not too pretentious for a first date. Pub style, or wine and cheese bar...

DON"T DO IT !!!!!!!! Nothing good comes of first dates! You have a great first date then next thing you know it's 18 years 2 kids later and the highlight of your days is posting on a food review web site!!!!

If you're in northern Bergen County, Peppercorns in Park Ridge.

Grand Cru in Englewood. Absolutely perfect for your criteria. Fits them to a "T"

For the most part, I liked the Twisted Elm, but service in the kitchen was erratic the night I went. Ordered very basic things and while they all sounded great on the menu.....I can't say anything was exceptional in the execution except the burger.. We had ....

              The Hot Crab Dip
              Almond Crusted Fried Brie
              Duck Fat Jersey Disco Fries
              Tavern Custom Blend Burger
              Chicken Under a Brick
              Hanger Steak.
              Skillet Mac & Cheese

We did notice the Lobster Grilled Cheese and Pizza were popular at the other tables. The rooms were dark and there's sufficient space between tables for some privacy....but I thought the room was a little too dark and very noisy with a full dining room....of families i.e., kids.
