Lunch in Sonoma . . . Healdsburg/Kenwood area

My husband and I will be in Sonoma for a birthday lunch on Monday. We will be going around the area wine tasting and are looking for somewhere for a really yummy lunch. It does not have to be fancy, but local produce would be appreciated.

Thanks.

    1. Cafe Citti in Kenwood came up in conversation yesterday, and I was reminded why I like it so much. Legendary roast chicken, wonderful duck, housemade mozzarella, amazing (truly) potato salad and other salads. Such good flavors.

Cafe Citti is one of my must-do places for visitors because of its combination of great food and casual, completely unpretentious feeling. My visitors always agree. Of course I also go there between visitors. I also love El Molino Central (and take visitors there), but I think Cafe Citti would be a better choice for a celebratory birthday lunch.

      2. i was going to say Barndiva but they're closed mon. & tues.

Bistro Ralph is wonderful for brunch, and their lunch/dinner menu looks great.

        1. Both El Molino and Cafe Citti are right on Highway 12 which is a busy two-lane highway.

Do sound and seating matter to you?

Cafe Citti's indoor area can be loud if full of diners. The outdoor eating area is behind a fence and quieter. Most of the tables are shaded.

El Molino's tables are all outside, but well shaded. The wood benches and wood tables are in view of Highway 12. The sound isn't bad. It's just worth it to bring a pad or blanket, if you're planning to linger over your meal.

Yes, I'm getting to be a fussy old lady!

And I did choose to happily celebrate my last birthday at both these places :)

Check the weather forecast - heading into the 90s this weekend.

          1. I'm not familiar with the Kenwood area. In Healdsburg, Bovolo is wonderful for something light.

If you are willing to drive a little further north to Geyserville, Diavolo is amazing.

                >Bovolo has closed.<

So sorry to hear that. It was my favorite quick-lunch-with-great-food place in Healdsburg.

                  All is not lost.

The owners opened Zazu on the River at Davis Family Vineyards. 52 Front Street in Healdsburg. Open weekends -
