Oui3, new upscale dining in Tulsa

I had the pleasure of having dinner the other night at a new restaurant here in Tulsa. Oui3 is owned by Chef Ouida Merrifield and is located on S Peoria.

I ordered the roasted endive wrapped in bacon salad and it was delicious. The roasting tamed the bitterness that endive can have. It had a very light vinagrette drizzle that was a nice balance for the dish. For an entree I ordered the Grilled jumbo shrimp with fat noodles and a preserved lemon cream sauce. This was also very good, the shrimp were maybe just a touch too done, but the pasta more than helped the dish. The noodles were a flat thin noodle (tagliatelle maybe) and tasted homemade. The sauce was a light coating of a lemon cream sauce, not too much, which on a hot night was perfect.

The menu is not that big but neither is the kitchen there and the Chef de Cuisine was keeping her eye on every dish going out.

Another lovely meal on Saturday. The place was packed! I had thick juicy lamb chops served with a crisp tasty mushroom tempura.

Tiomano it sounded as if you were less than totally thrilled by the shrimp dish. Well I noticed a new dish on the menu last night and I asked what happened, and the waiter said that the shrimp dish had been cancelled because it just wasn't up to their standards.

I ate there on Tuesday and it was magnificent. I just put a review on a Tulsa website. Too lazy to write another review here. Suffice it to say that in my opinion it has the potential of becoming one of the best restaurants in Oklahoma. It showcases fresh, fine ingredients simply yet perfectly prepared.
