Solo lunch dining at either Le Grand Vefour or Le Cinq?

I am trying to decide whether to make a reservation for Le Cinq or Le Grand Vefour in a couple of weeks. While I know for certain I will treated impeccably as a solo female in either place, and I have no anxiety about solo dining, I am interested in Chowhounder input: which do you think would be my best choice?

Yes, August trips are always a challenge for me because of annual closings. While I decided to choose LGV based on comments, I might have to "settle" for Le Cinq! LGV next time. Thank you all for your input.

But oops, when exactly? Le Grand Véf is closed until 28 Aug. Bummer!

I guess it is moot if the date is August. What has happened to Le Cinq on this board? has it fallen below LGV. Parnassien puts it beautifully though I am neither an inner "duchesse" or diva. If I were dining alone, I would choose LGV; it is more intimate and cozy.

While l eat at Le Cinq every trip to Paris, the experience at Le Grand Vefour always makes me smile, especially when walking through the Palais-Royale. Don't miss it and it's obscenely great cheese course, LGV you will never forget.

If you have an inner "duchesse", she'd enjoy le Grand Véfour. Inner diva? Le Cinq. Or you can flip a coin.

Actually, Le Cinq is probably the better-- and longer-- gastronomique experience but Le Grand Véfour has such cultural and historical flavour that, in my opinion, it's the better overall experience.

I also vote for le Gran Véfour. It is not the nirvana in food, but every time I dine there, - and it's not everyday, - it feels like an attainment. One should Véfour up at least once.
