You can get them cut to order from Silverstein's Bakery, but yoy must order a case at a time ( I believe that's 48). The type of bunto which you refer is a U.S. style top-split hot dog roll. You used to be able to buy the Wonderbread top-split at Loblaw's and No Frills but not now. I checked with the makers of Wonderbread and they informed me that the top-split is available in Quebec only. Good luck.

Dempsters top split buns are sold at Metro.

Oh no? Hmm, maybe not all Metros then. I've seen them in multiple Metros. Maybe I've gotten lucky.

I went to 4 different stores on National Lobster Day looking for them. All in Aurora. None had them.

Crappy. I guess they aren't carried in all locations.

Still didn't stop the lobster rolls from not sucking.

Not at all, I'd imagine :)

If you get the Pepperidge Farm brand of breads by you, they make a top-split hot-dog roll that I use for lobster (& crab) rolls all the time. They're small, but good.

I don't know how close to Toronto they deliver, but at the cottage (Belleville area) they have Betty's bakery and they have the top split buns. I bring them back and freeze them because they taste better - still white and gummy but better somehow; probably a childhood memory.

Betty's is a comercial bakery and also has hamburger buns but I'm not sure where there delivery radius is... according to Google it's Lanthier Bakery 58 Dominion St Alexandria, ON K0C 1A0, Canada

I use the Wonderbread split top buns. I got them at Loblaws. Slightly less useful (doesn't hold much lobster) but very cute are the PC brand mini split top buns.

Don't hurt yourself trying to find them. If you can, great. A little butter on each side and then into a pan for griddling.

Honestly though you'll do just fine with regular hotdog buns. Just butter the inside and griddle them first.
