Fresh Wednesdays at Nathan Phillips
For July and August, we have Fresh Wednesdays at Nathan Phillips Square. There is a farmers' market (got some baby zucchinis with flowers) and several food vendors, including Indian, Caribbean, a deli truck and a burger/back bacon stand - this last one has the longest line up!
Had a veggie murtabak, disappointing as the filling was 99% chickpeas. Glad I added the coconut chutnety as there is not much flavour except for the smokiness of the grilled wrapper.

Apparently it's so successful that they split the food from the market so now we have Tasty Thursdays http://www.toronto.ca/special_events/...
However I have yet to find something that is tasty. Had catfish on creole rice from Big Daddy, but apart from the spices there isn't much flavour. And chicken sate from Elephant is a dry chewy breast meat skewer with barely a hint of spice, and no dipping sauce to boot.

re: Teep
They've had both events for a while, more than 5 years. But the farmer's market (minus the trucks and music) goes for a longer season. It's nice they are broadening the selections on Wednesdays. Had a tasty canteloupe/ginger ice pop last week. I haven't tried the hand pies (savoury and sweet options) yet but they are tempting. I would like to see more small niche vendors like these. Not a huge fan of the catering companies that seem to frequent these events, unfortunately. Would love to see the Indian vendor do some street food like bhel puri.
