Cold Spring, New York
Dinner recommendation in Cold Spring, New York please.
I like Cathryn's well enough, but it's expensive, and some may consider the menu limited. Recently, I ate at Brasserie Le Bouchon, and was very impressed; based on that one experience, it gets a ringing endorsement from me. Not cheap either, but great French food (which I'll have to qualify by admitting that I'm by no means an expert when it comes to French cuisine), and it was the first time I've tried snails! The only other place I've tried in my years of visiting Cold Spring is the Cold Spring Depot down the street in what was obviously once a train depot. Decent enough food and not quite as expensive. Last time I ate there (some weeks ago) a man at another table told me he drove over regularly from Katonah just for the chicken pot pie at the Cold Spring Depot. I've never had it, so I can't validate what he said, but I've liked everything else I've ordered there over the years. Up the street from the Depot is an ice cream place worth visiting, although the name of it escapes me at the moment.
I just had a wonderful meal at Hudson Hil's Cafe and Market this afternoon. The grilled cheese sandwich (Granny Smith apple, fig paste, Gouda cheese and bacon on rustic bread) was delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The dinner menu looked great. I would definitely recommend that you make reservations. We waited for a table for thirty minutes.
