El Jarocho?

I could have sworn I read a review of El Jarocho on 13th and Ellsworth on this board, but now I can't find it :(

Anybody have any feedback on this? I was thinking of trying it out...

Well thanks to you two I ended up trying El Jarocho anyway yesterday, and I'm glad I did. I've eaten at Los Taquitos de la Puebla before and enjoyed it, and I have to say this was at least as good. I had bbq lamb, tripe and chorizo tacos, and you're right, the chorizo tacos are terrific. The other tacos were just good. One of my companions had the surf and turf (beef, bacon, some other meats, and shrimp) which was also outstanding. The horchata tasted homemade, and pretty terrific on a hot day. I'd definitely go back, and it's a lot closer for me than the other places we were talking about. I'd like to go back on the weekends. I also need another trip to Los Taquitos de la Puebla :)

Thanks for the input guys! I'm glad I went.

Try lengthening the time period of your search and also look on the Pennsylvania board, a lot of older Philly posts are still there.

Thanks buckethead! Found what I was after. I'm wondering now if Plaza Garibaldi would be better. It's not as close, but the reviews of El Jarocho didn't exactly sing its praises...

I've only been there once but have gotten delivery from El Jarocho quite a few times, their chorizo tacos are the best thing I've had but I haven't really branched out into the non-taco portions of their menu. I like Tacqueria Veracruzana better for tacos and Plaza Garibaldi better for a sit-down meal, but I haven't been to any of the three in a long time.

El Jarocho was repped on this "best tacos" list the other day: http://philadelphia.grubstreet.com/20...

The best place to go probably depends on what you want to eat. The tacos at Taqueria Los Taquitos de Puebla on 9th are awesome... just had ridiculously good al pastor and lengua tacos there the other day.

It would be great if there was a way to get delivery of the best taco from each tacqueria. For carnitas, I love Veracruzana. For chorizo, El Jarocho. La Lupe's queso taco is great. My overall favorite is Veracruzana though I haven't been to Los Taquitos de Puebla in a long time thanks to two sub-par meals in a row.

Taquitos de la Puebla killed it the other day but all we got were the tacos and the grilled green onions. The lengua was the best I've had in Philly easily.
