  1. It's a little bit of a schlep from Fallbrook, but Aniata Cheese Shop in Del Mar has wonderful Manchego and the membrillo to go with it.

Aniata is located in the Flower Hill mall which is just off the I-5 at Via de la Valle. It's on the East side of I-5, and on the North side of Via de la Valle, there is a stoplight where you need to turn. The store itself is on the lower level next door to Tony Roma's.

Aniata has wonderful cheeses include artisial from both CA and NY.

    1. They usually have it at Major Market on Centre City Parkway in Escondido, near Felicita. Not too far to go from Fallbrook.
They have a pretty good selection - I've also found buffalo mozzarella, Cowgirl Creamery and Humboldt Fog there.
Whole Foods in either La Jolla or Hillcrest have pretty big selections, also.

      1. Rick if you are still out there Costco in Temecula actually has manchego and at a greta price.

        1. trader joes in temecula has it although your closest bet would be the major market on main st. in 'brook town

          1. Here in NC, Costco carries Manchego, and at a very low price. There are several Costco warehouses in your area. You have to be a member, of course, and you have to be willing to buy a fairly large hunk of cheese (a pound or more, probably).

            1. Just went to Smart N Final. They have 12 oz of Manchego for $3.85.

              1. OK so now that we have found to Manchego .....how about a good Spanish (not Mexican) restaurant south of LA.
