Amsterdam/Johnstown/Gloversville/Fonda area

I will be traveling to this area periodically and would like to find places to dine. I like local foods and holes in the wall, but anything decent will do. I know that this may be a tall order, but can anyone out there help me out?

The Kool Dipper on Forest Avenue in Amsterdam is good for lunch. Homemade soups, fantastic Mexican Hots and hot crispy fries. You need to leave the area for fine dining. Pretty much a culinary wasteland.
