Amsterdam/Johnstown/Gloversville/Fonda area

JPR Jul 24, 2012 11:56 AM

I will be traveling to this area periodically and would like to find places to dine. I like local foods and holes in the wall, but anything decent will do. I know that this may be a tall order, but can anyone out there help me out?

If you don't mind going a little further to Little Falls / Fort Plain, Beadslee Castle is great:
Innovative menu using locally grown foods. And haunted!

The Kool Dipper on Forest Avenue in Amsterdam is good for lunch. Homemade soups, fantastic Mexican Hots and hot crispy fries. You need to leave the area for fine dining. Pretty much a culinary wasteland.
