Anniversary Dinner in Barrie area

Omnivorous couple needs to find dinner spot to celebrate 17th anniversary in Barrie area. All suggestions welcome emphasis to be placed on quality of food. We have eaten at WD 50 in Manhattan and La Superica in Santa Barbara and were equally happy in both. We happen to be in Orillia this year and we are looking for someplace to celebrate.

A SoCal Taqueria and a Manhattan Molecular Gastronomy restaurant are pretty different. Do you have any clearer description of what you want? It might help people answer the question if they could narrow the criteria down a little.

Sorry. What I meant to say is I am looking for anything that is worth eating beyond the chain restaurants that seem to make up Barrie's culinary landscape. What I should of said is fancy is not a prerequisite, and even a joint could make an anniversary special if it is the right joint.

There are options - but some idea of what you are after would be good. There are plenty of good non-chain restaurants in Barrie. You have to give us some idea though .

You know what - I'd really just go ahead now and make a reservation at The North downtown. The whole menu is great - my favourite is the Sea Bass. Marco is a very talented chef - you will not be disappointed. Their new location is lovely, although reservations might be tricky right now since Barrieliscious is underway...great food. There are so many excellent non-chain restaurants though - but then you may have only ever been up and down Bayfield Street - my hunch given your comment.
