Hong Kong, need help

I'm interested in your opinion concerning the following two venues:

TBLS or Liberty Private Works?

Cannot make a choice. Should be a welcome dinner for the old friend.

    Well, there has been a couple of detailed write-ups on TBLS by our fellow Hound, PhilD - and one was quite recently:

    Have you considered trying both - then tell us what *you* think?

      I have read his review, it sounds very promising. I was wondering if someone has already tried both. The concept seems very similiar, also the price level. The chef at LPW seems to me more experienced from his background, but you never know...

        I need to get to LPW but very lukewarm reviews from a few freinds have held me back. I noticed that Andy Hayler (UK blogger who specializes in Michelin) tried it and liked it so that may prompt me.

        He was critical also of the three star rating of a couple of the three stars here, plus giving a positive nod to St Betty which now has Shane Osbourn (ex Pied a Terre, London). I quite liked it when I first tried it but it lost it's way quickly even dropping lunch for a weak brunch during the weekends - I wonder if the new name and new chef will save it?

        Another very well respected food fanatic swears by GE At the Luxe Manor - not sure I have ever seen it mentioned on the board)

          I was at St. Betty a couple weeks back for lunch. No better, no worse than when Betty hadn't been canonized, much less sanctified. In other words, IFC meh.

      I actually have tried both but didn't take detailed notes. Both are quite similar in style with a reasonably priced tasting menu. I would give a slight edge to TBLS since I remembered its food/flavor combination as more inventive. Would have no problem going back to either one. But also don't remember them as so good that I would put them on my regular list.

      Never been to GE at the Luxe Manor. My fav molecular in town is still Bo Innovation. Went back 2 or 3 months back and it was still great.

        after some research we have decided to go to GE. I know Bo Innovation and like it a lot, though I wouldn't consider it to be molecular...
