Cooking fresh frozen peas

Why are my fresh frozen peas producing a lot of white foam when cooking them? I froze them, along with bacon pieces. I did not blanch them as instructed by the pea farmer that grew them. I start by bringing to a boil and then reduce to simmer.

    It's your bacon pieces -- the white foam is various protein chains in the water.
