HomeStyle Japanese Food at Soy
I searched the Manhattan board and found nothing on this restaurant, so I figured I would mention it.
Soy Restaurant on Suffolk St. A small reasonably priced Japanese restaurant with good "homestyle" food. Many of the dishes are all about tofu, but quite a few have beef , pork, shrimp. So it isn't just a vegetarian restaurant. They have several types of miso soups, great cold tofu with grated ginger, oshinko and bonito flakes.. They have vegetable gyoza and pork gyoza,,they have Vegetable croquettes and I had a potato and beef croquette which was good. The vegetable curry was absolutely delicious. It had terrific flavor and was a very hearty dish. The tofu pudding was a good dessert. I had the red bean flavor. They also have sesame flavor and chocolate flavor. Two Japanese women were doing the cooking and serving. It is a kid friendly place. Very small, maybe 4 tables and a counter that seats 6.
A good find, and I recommend it.
