Paris trip in December - need help
Hello Chowhounders,
I am going to paris on the 1st of december with my parents and considering the fact that this might be the only trip to paris, I have to ensure that my parents and I have a memorable trip filled with good food.
We will be staying at Les Halles and it would be nice for you chowhounders to recommend some decent breakfast, lunch and dinner spots to us. :)
So far, I have considered:
-L'Ami Jean
- Lunch at Le Cinq or Ledoyen ( still in pending because reviews seemed mixed)
-Lunch at Shang Palace (my dad needs his Chinese food fix... )
Other than that, I am at loss. Paris seems big and there seems to be lots of nice places to dine at but I prefer it if the places are near to where we will be staying at Les Halles, and not too off beaten. Preferably bistros. :D
Also, what are some of the nice afternoon tea places in Paris?
Are reservations necessary for most places?

Forget Shang Palace, unless paying a high price for Chinese food makes you feel more comfortable. It is not bad but not worth the amount of the check, and the windowless, stuffy dining room does not add to the experience.
Try Chen Soleil d'Est for a high-level, albeit costly, Chinese food fix in Paris.
Or, cheaper and excellent, Likafo, Aux Délices de Shandong or even Chez Yong.
For good dim sum, Tricotin or Mandarin Opéra (the latter hidden away in a covered arcade). No objections about the other places!
If you're looking for a bistrot not too far from Les Halles, try Le Rubis, Procopio Angelo (nice little trattoria), Coinstot Vino, Claude Colliot, Racines, Robert et Louise, Café des Musées, among others.
Also, Paris is not that big. No restaurant within the limits of the city would be more than 30 minutes away by métro from anywhere.
