Yet another "place for a group" thread - (not a reserved room, just "hey, meet us here for drinks!")

Yes, this again. Looking to pick a bar in the Cobble Hill metro area to meet up with friends on our anniversary after dinner. Saturday night in early August. This is not a "rent the back room of Clover Club" type of thing (though if there are bars that have cut rates in the summer we'd consider it), more like somewhere we can tell everyone we know "we'll be at ____ starting at 9 or so, come on out and the first couple of drinks are on us."

Don't care about fancy or lowbrow. Would love Sample except it's too small, or Local 61 except they don't have hard alcohol. Just somewhere we can mill around and friends can come and go.

Any ideas? If you make the winning suggestion, come by and I'll buy you a drink too.

  1. As long as you do it early enough in the evening, the Brooklyn Inn is a great spot for that kind of thing. It can get pretty crowded around 10-11, but if you stake your claim early you can easily hang with 10-15 people.

ill second this - though ive been there when it was rather crowded, at non-prime hours Brooklyn Inn is an excellent bet. bonus points for mile end take out from down the block.

Brooklyn Inn is a great idea (I was actually thinking about its sister Roebling Inn as well), except they're both cash only and we'd prefer to run a tab.

I was considering Last Exit or Brazen Head as pretty laid back places with good beer selections and outdoor space.

Brazen Head is a good bet then, if you want to run a tab. You may also consider Floyd, right across the street from Last Exit. It's a pretty big spot. Like all of the bars in the area, it gets pretty crowded later in the evening.

Strangely, I really haven't spent much time in Last Exit, so I don't have an opinion on it other than I think it's fairly small. (but again, no idea really).
