Summer Pie......"Made in Canada Berries" Pie....Oh my!!

Husband picked up this amazing pie at Loblaws (but not 'their' brand). Attractive 'local'packaging and what a surprize really good for 'store bought' !!!. Incredibly flavourful and truly a taste of Canadian Summer, made from Canadian Strawberries, Rasberries, Cranberries and Blueberries...The pastry could have been better (Never had a 'chain store pie with a good crust, I fear that is an impossible task for mass marketing) the filling was awesome just enough 'sweet' but not cloying, had lots of seeds so those who have to avoid seeds should take a pass. Vanilla ice cream and slightly warmed...a pie fit for a summer night/day...

Do you know how it compares to the bumbleberry pie made and sold by True North Apple at the SL Farmers' Market?

Haven't had the Bumbleberry from True North, have had the Loblaws' one quite a while back and also the pie from Chudleigh's...think this one was better...pretty sure the fact that the filling is less sweet (for my taste) was what made it so good...(sure wasn't the pastry!).

Hi pearlD. Did my last post on United Bakeries ring any bells or familiar themes with you?

Yes...good (?) old VRCI..actually don't remember much about the school, really had a nasty teen period and as for the Cafeteria..nothing....As a word of explanation I think I took my lunch most of the time or went to my parent's restaurant which was a short bus ride away!
They had 2 restaurants in that area 'both 'greasy spoons' (Mom & Pop style). It's why I still go to greasy spoons on occaison, they are what I grew up with (also learned how to cook etc.).

If it's not Loblaws brand who's brand is it?

The box said "Ready Made" Missisauga (?) not P.C , 'made for Loblaws' or even 'Farmer's Market' ...really not a 'brand' that I am aware of as being Loblaws...

Sounds good! Was it fresh or frozen? I want to know I'm looking in the right place for it!

It was with the regular display of ready to eat pies (apple, blueberry etc.)
