30th Birthday Dinner for my Wife
Hi, I am looking for a place to have a 30th birthday dinner for my wife. We are looking for 2 people, romantic, upscale and with amazing food. Probably around $350 total as the limit. Any suggestions aside from the usual (Le Bernadin, Per Se, Jean Georges...)?

Corton is experimental but still very much within the framework of classic French cuisine. It probably has the best wine list among the three.
Picholine would most closely resemble the experience that you would get at Le Bernardin and Jean Georges. I dined there again last week and the food was better than ever. The cheese cart was very enjoyable, particularly the Époisses de Bourgogne.
The Modern Dining Room has the liveliest and the least stuffy atmosphere which your young wife might prefer. The food can be very good and the chocolate cart is always delightful, but the restaurant still is in my opinion a tier below Corton, Picholine, and the four stars.
It's hard to find uniformly good reviews even among the best restaurants. Even Le Bernardin, Daniel, and Jean Georges get bashed on CH with some regularity but hey, it's all good. We're all amateur reviewers with differing tastes.
