Tai Leung Restaurant 844 Décarie in Ville St-Laurent
I was told that I must try their wonton soup with a pork and shrimp mix. So we headed there with my wife.
I would stop there anytime just to have a bowl or two of their home made won ton soup. It was excellent. Although the broth was on the plain side lacking flavors the pork-shrimp wonton were out of this world with flavors.
We also ordered some general tao chicken, It was very good but my wife taught that the flavors were on the subtle side. I liked it. We also had some salt and peper squid with some beef and vegetables dishes.
This place looks like a 1970 restaurant that was frozen in time. I believe it's a duo of brother and sister that run the place. I think the sister is the one who was doing the service. There was no other staff except the cook.
As we were walking on Decarie street in Ville St-0Laurent I told my wife that it's sad that such a nice street has no life in the evening. What would be needed to make this part of town a happening place? It reminds me of prince-arthur and it's no mans land atmosphere.
They do have the best wonton noodle soup in town. Many years ago they used to own a restaurant in chinatown which was famous for the same soup. The place was called Fung Shin (spelling questionable, the business was sold with the name, so it may still be there on St. laurent).
