COAL - Coal Fired Pizza - Middletown
I went tonight with my fiancee. I consider this the first time since it is a new business (new owners). Had a Regular With Sausage and a St Micheals Pie (Meatball, ricotta, caramelized onions). Both where finished with fresh basil. Great Pizza. Thin and Crispy on the edges, just enough bite in the middle. Fresh ingredients and Great Tasting all around, sweet tomato sauce.
Wish they had a website.
Still BYOB, there is the liquor store next door over too.
Interior is still the same as the old place, looks like the menu is the only thing that changed, but my pizza was way better than i remember my last visit at the former place.
They are closed on Mondays

Glad to hear that you had such a good experience at Coal. As BIGBOB said, Middletown is their second location.
I'm sure I've posted about Coal in Manalapan, but I'm too lazy to look for the thread. We've been to Coal there twice, and the pizza has been excellent both times. During our second visit, we were wondering what was taking so long. Turned out they weren't satisfied with how the pizza turned out, so they made another one. To me, that indicates that they truly take pride in what they are serving.
The Middletown location is not as convenient for us as the one in Manalapan (5 minutes from out house v. 25), But if we are in the Middletown area and want to have pizza, I'd definitely go to Coal.
