Try this sandwich.

Eataly on a Saturday afternoon is not my idea of a good time at all, but if you can stand it, go to the Rosticceria and get a pork braciole sandwich (sm. $11.80 inc. tax).

  1. Thank you. I know what you mean about the weekend scene. What's good about that sandwich, exactly?

It's a 1/2lb. serving of boneless pork (shoulder?) rolled around a stuffing of sweet sausage, onions, herbs, etc.. on an unexceptional-but-fresh 8" or so of white bread with a dribble of olive oil and some coarse sea salt.

I've had their roast beef sandwich, and brisket bollito too. The braciole wins.

Sounds awesome, I didn't know they made sandwiches there. Do you pay right there where they make it , or have to wait on long line to check out.?

Pay right there. If you go after 2:00 it won't be as jammed.

      1. But will it hold for 5 or 6 hours so I can take it with me on an airplane?

It might be pretty tasty, but you'd get olive oil and sausage bits all over the plane.

Olive oil and sausage bits all over the plane? Sounds good to me. I'm gettin' one!

        2. Don't make the mistake I made yesterday. When Knucklesandwich says "Saturday afternoon," what he's alluding to is the fact that the Eataly Rosticceria serves only one sandwich each day. And Saturday is the only day you can get the pork braciole. If, like me, you've never been to the Rosticceria before, and you go on a Wednesday with your mouth watering for the braciole, you will be disappointed.

Also, if you go after 2:00, they may well be sold out.

This was the saddest thread I've ever read :^(

Thanks for the warning. This thread has had me craving that sandwich. I'm just happy it's been a bit too warm for the 20 block walk during lunch. It would have sucked to walk all that way for nothing.

Can you call ahead, pickup and pay?

              2. the Porchetta sandwich on Thursday's is also quite good. nice crispy skin and well seasoned.
