santa Fe vegetarian and gluten free
Visitors coming to our rented house need vegetarian and gluten free options. Are there restaurants
that fit this bill, or will we need to make arrangements to eat only at home. I have a menu from
MuDu Noodles that will fit the veg. person, but it doesn't look like the gluten free requirements can
be met there. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated. Also, besides the food questions, is there a movie theater in Santa Fe? Thanks and looking forward to our stay.
Body Cafe, Cafe Pasqual's, and Annapurna Chai House (not keen on Annapurna myself, but people seem to like it) are some more to add to your list. One thing to always ask at Southwestern/NM-style places is if there's flour in the chile. Even if a dish is otherwise without gluten, that's where some can sneak in.
There are several movie theaters in Santa Fe - the Regal and UA DeVargas are two that come to mind showing first-run mainstream films. Then there's The Screen and the Center for Contemporary Arts that show independent films and old movies, and I think the Lensic shows old movies sometimes, too.
Firstly, it seems like half the City Different is on some sort of special diet, and any midscale or upscale place will be more than happy to play ball with veggie and/or gluten free. As long as your visitors aren't hellbent on going to an *exclusively* vegetarian and/or gluten free restaurant, it's actually really easy to eat this way here.
Nearly any midscale or upscale place has vegetarian and gluten free choices on the menu. Off the top of my head, Pizza Centro, Harry's Roadhouse, Flying Star, Vinaigrette, and Counter Culture all have specific vegetarian and gluten free options.
Outside of BBQ joints, virtually everywhere in town offers legitimate vegetarian options, from most NM-style restaurants (a few places use lard in the chile and/or tortillas, so best to check in advance) to upscale places like La Boca, Shohko Cafe, and Trattoria Nostrani.
