This Year's Anniversary Lunch

Hi All -- I'm planning a very special Friday lunch with my husband, and am trying to figure out what best fits the bill:

-Great food with some buzz
-Location between Mid-town and Downtown
-Open for lunch
-Nice Atmosphere (doesn't have to be "romantic" but maybe not too grungy)
-$75 or under per person including one drink each

I'm considering:
Baco Mercat
Spice Table
Bottega Louie
Towne
Son of a Gun

In previous year's we've gone to Drago Centro, Lazy Ox and Rivera and had a great time, but would like to try something new.

How about Chaya Downtown. Nix Baco for sure.

I'd nix Bottega Louie if you had any intention of actually carrying on a conversation with your husband for your anniversary. Son of a Gun is fun....and very good....but casual. I think Spice Table is closing? How about WP24? I hear the view is great.

Whaaaat?!! Any word on when this Metro rail thing will shut down Spice Table?

On the OP's list I would easily pick Spice Table...even though I liked Son of a Gun more than Animal. Spice Table is best for dinner though.

I didn't realize that Spice Table would be effected. I thought that it was only Senor Taco.

            I meant Senor Fish.

I didn't know either until perk's post. I had to google it and it sounds like both are affected. No date though.

The setting at Towne is certainly befitting of an anniversary, but sadly the food falls just a tad short (not saying it's bad, just not something necessarily anniversary-worthy).

This may sound a bit out of left field, but how about Water Grill?

I was thinking about Water Grill but always thought it was out of my range -- what's the atmosphere like?

Just been remodeled. Very nice, not as stuffy as it used to be. Wonderful seafood and service. I love their iced shellfish platters, great to share. Very good true cod fish and chips too.

Atmo is very nice, updated and modern. Not stuffy at all.

I know Son of a Gun is very casual but I do love their food. Great place for sharing.
