Siam Spice, 1174 Fisher Blvd. Toms River, NJ

Lunch at Siam Spice in Toms River NJ yesterday. Long time since I've had Thai, and first time in NJ, also first time for Mom to try Thai. We shared Tom Kae Gai soup, ultra fresh. We arrived just around noon and we were the only customers, this was clearly made to order. Dang, those little slivers of bird peppers, pack a punch. So good. We moved on to Larb, which was perfect, the flavor profile built and worked so well, following the soup. Last we shared Phad Thai, with pork. Awesome! Different that any other Phad Thai I had before, I really liked it better. Service was polite and not intrusive. A small place, with tasteful decor. I recommend it and will go again when I am in the area. Toms River is sorta a black hole food wise, so it was nice to find this true gem.

Had an urge for Thai last night and that leads to giving Siam Spice a visit. For us the best Thai food around by far. Got there at 7:00 and glad we had reservations as the place was packed.
Steamed dumplings were tender and tasty as usual. Yum Neau (beef salad) was indeed yum with a delicious combination of flavors, texture and heat from the spicing.
Sliced herb marinated grilled steak tossed in lime juice, red onions, tomatoes, scallions with a roasted chili paste dressing.

Entrees were a chicken Massaman curry which was excellent and the additional spicing requested was perfect. Pad Thai Sai Haw had all those yummy Pad Thai noodles and ingredients wrapped in a delicate egg omelet.

We are usually are too full for dessert but split the fried banana with vanilla ice cream which was OK, probably should have gone for the Thai Pumpkin Custard which is always a treat. A couple of Yards Brawlers were the perfect drink with the food we had.

Been coming here for the past couple years, the owner-chef is very talented and it shows in the flavors of the food. If you haven’t been, bring a nice Riesling or brew and enjoy some fine Thai food.
