What shall sustain me in HHI?

Looking for recs for an upcoming trip to Hilton Head. May be able to travel farther afield on occasion so feel free to offer suggestions from the surrounding area.

I have not spent any length of time in the area so I can't claim to know it. Looking for dives and good lowcountry fare. Not as interested in places for great prime rib or the latest and greatest american bistro.

Bonus points for good seafood markets.

Basically, anyplace that can't be missed for as close to a lowcountry experience as I can get in HHI, SC.

Seen those posts. Nothing in there particularly inspiring, don't you agree?

Looking for something other than bloody mary brunches, burgers and pizza.

How about Roastfish and Cornbread, Bluffton Family Seafood Restaurant, Gullah Grub, EAT!, Black Marlin Bayside Grill, The Cottage, Bluffton BBQ, Bluffton Oyster Company, Cahill's Market and Kitchen...

Had a short visit in HH last month. Great meal at May River Grill. Thursday afternoon farmers market in Bluffton was a treat. Great produce, lots of food vendors and cold beer and live music.

Not lowcountry, but great authentic Mexican at La Huasteca next to Seiglers in Sheridan Plaza. Tiny, owners are from Veracruz or Oaxaca, to die for homemade corn tortillas filled with wonderful tacos. Al pastor, homemade chorizo, carne asada and lengua. Also served with the great chile relleno (just cheese the way i like it!) Lots of platos tipicos - we loved everything we had. Cheap and delicious.

Not too many gringos, but it was always filled! (they've been there for 7 years!)

Nice local fish selection at Charlie's Etoile. Stay far away from Sublime Prime.

Heard good things about Pour Richards on bluffton Pky. but didn't get to try it. Next time.
