Deli places of different cuisines ?
Would be glad to get recos on deli type takeout places that are your "goto" places in Manhattan, maybe with nice and quiet park or outside seating nearby? Open for everything, italian specialities, jewish, japanese, indian, chinese and so on.. TA deli places to find very good food with maybe a possibility to explore interesting "less ususal" and traditional stuff? Maybe also some "speciallity supermarkets" are the way to go here ? Thanks !

Are you looking for delis or steamtables? As far as delis go, Korean-owned delis of varying quality seem to be ubiquitous. You can usually find the local deli in Midtown serving up kimchi, stuffed tofu and kimbap in addition to the standard potato salad, spinach bake and pasta shells. If you're lucky they may have a noodle or bibimbap counter. Of course if you're looking for a solely Korean deli, you'll have to add Woorijip to your agenda. There are also a couple Japanese delis/markets in the East 40s.
If you are looking for steamtable restaurants, there are plenty more of those serving up Indian, Puerto Rican, West African, Chinese food and more.

re: JungMann
Thanks a lot to both of you, i almost forgot about the question :-) Excellent recos that some i'm familiar with from the past, and i meant mainly actual deli's and even markets that sell prepared stuff.. But steamtable restos (and i learnt a new term :-)) are also great, cause probably those are great for take out during middle of the day..

Despana ( in Soho) for the best Iberico ham,,,
Katz's for pastrami, and garlic wurst
Russ and daughters for the herring and smoked sable
Citarella: lots of italian treats
Zabars: bound to find something
Dean and Deluca: lots
Murray's : Cheese
The Deli criteria is throwing me off,,, I want to say Porchetta for the potatoes and crispy pork but thats not even close to being a deli ,,
