Sunday Brunch Faceoff: Four Seasons versus Scarpetta

I'm hosting a friend's 40th birthday brunch next month and she wants it either at the Four Seasons or Scarpetta. I prefer Scarpetta myself because I love the porchetta and the famous spaghetti but I love the Four Seasons brunch as well.

Just wondering the Chowhounders' thoughts on this wonderful dilemma.

The food at Scarpetta makes you feel special. The setting at the Four Seasons makes you feel special.

My vote will always be Four Seasons. It's our go-to brunch place. Always outstanding with stellar, personal service.
Much of this has to do with the fact I prefer Four Seasons over Montage any day.

I vote for Scarpetta as well for the pasta, cheese from BHCS and their desserts. They have a vanilla custard filled bombolini that haunts my dreams. It's the best fried donut type dessert I've ever had.

FYI - we went there for Father's Day last year and they actually charge higher on certain dates. I assume Mother's Day, Easter and Father's Day. Maybe a few others.

My decision goes to Scarpetta, but not by much.

You can't go wrong at either place and the prices are almost exactly the same (a dollar less for adults at Scarpetta - $68 and a dollar more for children - $35 IIRC than Culina/Four Seasons on Doheny).

Hey, we may need a Congressional inquiry for price fixing here! ;-D>

Have not been to the Four Seasons Brunch but I do love the wonderful Scarpetta Brunch with it's signature pastas, cheese & salumi from the Beverly Hills Cheese Store and all the fresh seafood (oysters. crab, shrimp, & yellowtail, )... a grand brunch.

Here is a great Kevin Eats link on the Scarpetta Brunch with photos:

Sadly, no signs of porchetta in that report.
