"Back to the top" function/link

How about you folks rearranging your code so that hitting on the "back to the top" hyperlink at the bottom of every panel of a thread does indeed take one to the actual top of the thread where the link to one's profile would be shown (rather than a few lines lower) ?

Oh please. I've posted exactly this comment with the last three (yes, that's 3) iterations/changes including this one. No one of course has directly addressed that complaint. I sure hope it actually gets attention this time around since others are complaining too.

I can't recall exactly which post, but it was mentioned in a Site Talk post within the last month. I commented that if one is using Chrome as their browser, there is an extension called "Scroll To Top Button" which will talk you back to the top of any site.

It's faster than waiting for it to get changed here. Plus it works on all sites. I am not sure if there is a similar one for Firefox, as I do not use FF.

In Mac OS, Command + up arrow takes one to the top of screen. Since that functionality is available, I prefer that "back to the top" be relabeled and continued to go to the original post.

I don't know where others may have posted about this. I'm sure you could do a search. What I stated was that I personally have posted about this very issue. It has never even been acknowledged before. I recall even mentioning this issue when I was part of the test group for one of the prior iteration changes.

There's a reason that I'm asking for "link posts"-- I wasn't trying to attack you but sort of preach to myself.

I OFTEN feel that when I have a SITE ISSUE, other people have posted about it before. I also think that maybe I personally have posted about it in years past.

A goal that I have, going forward, is whenever posting about a Site Issue, I want to include links to "other people have also said" when and if I can find them.

Ah, gotcha. And I agree an "inundation" might be a really good strategy. When I've got a free moment, I'll try searching too.

As someone who is "The Powers that Be," I can tell you that the best strategy is just a simple, clear request. If the fix is easy, we'll take care of what we can. I can't promise that every request will result in an immediate fix, but I can say that easy fixes happen fastest.

This fix is going out next week in our next release (Tuesday or Wednesday). Hope it helps.

(Melanie Wong - BTW going all the way to the top still does place the OP in the window of the page as you prefer; with the adjusted coding the actual top of the page is also visible as well as the OP. Peace.)

I'm sure that the original idea was that the link should take users back to the original post. However, I definitely see why taking you to the top of the page would be what you would expect from the link. I'll see what we can do about changing it. Thanks.
