Rittenhouse Tavern

Has anyone been to the Rittenhouse Tavern? I do not see any posts on it and it looks interesting. thanks.

On a surprisingly warm late October evening we dined there in the walled courtyard. All in our party enjoyed all elements of our meal, the intelligent & careful service, the small but interesting wine list and the courtyard flushed in soft light and spring-like breezes. I have no more current visits upon which to comment. Because of our first experience which was a confluence of goodness; I worry my expectations may be set too high.

Any recent opinions on the place? I had their recently-introduced 5-course tasting menu ($60/+$40 more for wine pairings) and enjoyed it quite a bit.

I have, it's pretty good. I liked our appetizers and snacks more than the main courses, the crispy frog legs and portobello fries are especially good. I also had a crudo (I can't remember the fish) that was excellent. The outdoor seating in the courtyard is very nice too.

Thanks for that Buckethead, coming to Philly next month and trying to decide where to eat, it's such an important part of any trip. Trying to gather any info I can get, so thanks.

Sure. I don't know if I'd recommend it to a visitor coming from out of town though. It's good but not among the city's best restaurants in my opinion. Of course, it depends on where else you've already been.
