Now that you mention it I have noticed the same thing from time to time but never thought to question it. Sometimes when I enter a thread all the comments are collapsed besides the latest comments....other times all the comments are open. I look forward to seeing what response you get.

re: jrvedivici
The way that this feature is supposed to work is as follows, assuming you are logged in:
A) If you click on a thread that you've never read before, all of the comments will be expanded.
B) If you click on a thread that you have read in its entirety before, all of the comments will be expanded.
C) If you click on a thread that you *have* read before, but has new comments since you've last read it, only the new comments will be expanded. Then, if you return to that thread, or refresh the page, everything will be expanded.
It sounds like EM23 might be experiencing something different from what I've described here, in which case we'd want to investigate....but correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

Just to clarify I think you are saying the same thing here......in the second case they will NOT be expanded correct?
Thank you for the explanation that does make sense!!

re: Dave MP
Yes Dave. Those two threads I mentioned are ones that I have been reading, as recently as last night. Both threads had the "new" sign and showed the latest comment was from a few minutes or hours before. But, when I opened it, all of the comments were expanded.
All the other threads I have read today expanded only the new/ unread posts.
Thanks-
re: EM23
The PW thread may have had some comments deleted, with the possibility of that messing up the new/expanded logic.
I some times will open a thread in a new tab but not read it. Then if later I open it again, it is now expanded. That happens if I'm trying to follow too many threads at once.
