Staying near the Gaslamp with Kids
We are visiting San Diego for three nights next month. Staying at the Solamar and looking for dinner places within walking distance. Boys are 11 and 13. Older one is a foodie (like my wife and I), younger one is strictly buffalo wings and/or mac & cheese. Looking to make everyone happy if that's doable. Suggestions?
Jsix at the Hotel Solamar is one of the best restaurants in the Gaslamp and SD.
Basic for some fab pizza
Mary Jane's at the Hard Rock for breakfast or Cafe 222
Fish Market Downtown oyster bar or sushi bar...great bayfront patio for drinks and apps
Lolitas taco shop next to Petco for carne asada burrito or rolled tacos fix.
McCormicks and Schmicks at the Omni for happy hour..kids welcome
Searsucker for brunch
Bali Hai Shelter Island that is a 10 minute cab ride...sublime strong mai tais with great views
Tender Greens in Liberty Station behind SD Airport
Drinks at the Top of the Hyatt at Grand Manchester
Take the water taxi over from Gaslamp to Coronado...dine at Candelas..IL Fornaio..Coronado Brewery.
If I had two boys as described in tow, I'd take the family for Lunch one day up to Hodad's for burgers. Very beachy, uniquely San Diego spot which is the downtown outpost of the famous original in Ocean Beach, but less crowded. Just a 5-7 minute walk from your hotel.
Agree with Jsix in your hotel. Wouldn't take the boys to Searsucker.
