Staying near the Gaslamp with Kids

Hi Everyone,

We are visiting San Diego for three nights next month. Staying at the Solamar and looking for dinner places within walking distance. Boys are 11 and 13. Older one is a foodie (like my wife and I), younger one is strictly buffalo wings and/or mac & cheese. Looking to make everyone happy if that's doable. Suggestions?

Thanks much

JSix (in your hotel), Cafe Chloe - both if you don't have a car. If you have one there are many interesting options on 30th, e.g. Urban Solace

+2 on Cafe Chloe. Searsucker is another good choice. For Brunch, you can try Cheese Shop and Cafe 21. Could also check out Cremolose for desserts or dinner.

If I had two boys as described in tow, I'd take the family for Lunch one day up to Hodad's for burgers. Very beachy, uniquely San Diego spot which is the downtown outpost of the famous original in Ocean Beach, but less crowded. Just a 5-7 minute walk from your hotel.

Agree with Jsix in your hotel. Wouldn't take the boys to Searsucker.

I dunno, if I were a kid (or even an adult) the sucker bar at Searsucker would definitely make me behave.
