How can a chicken dish tasted THAT BAD??!! - Magic Wok can!!
To augment our family dinner tonight, I advanced order a ' Great Grand-Father Free Range Chicken ' from Magic Wok. ( Based on my data base, only restaurant doing this nowadays )
This dish, if done right, is one of the best tasting Cantonese chicken dish out there. The traditional method of preparation involves first slowly poaching the chicken to half done in an aged herbal and spice soya solution infused with premium Chinese rose essence rice wine. It is then smoked in a smoker using Chinese tea leaves, rose petals, brown sugar..etc. The taste and aroma can be totally mesmerizing!!
Unfortunately, the Magic Wok version came not even close! First, the bird was way over cooked to almost 'cardboard' dryness. The taste was ultra bland and the supposedly smokey aroma was totally absent!! What was the chef thinking??!! At $30 it was a total rip-off
If I had known, I would have gotten some roasted suckling piglet and a whole roasted duck from Peak-Top for the same price!!
Guess all the thumbs-down comment about Magic-Wok is true!!
