I'd say either format works fine, as long as you use a good, descriptive subject title so readers know what geographical area(s) you are reporting on. That said, covering by individual state allows the readers to more easily focus on a specific area of interest. If you elect to divide by NH and VT, you can always reference the other part of your trip report by adding an explanation and a link.
