Lyon Food Supplies - is there a G. Detou (Paris) Equivalent?
We're taking a break from Paris and will be spending our vacation this year in Lyon. While we're looking forward to all the gastronomic possibilities, I have come to depend on our trips to G. Detou in Paris for exotic varieties of black pepper, Piment d'Esplette, Tarbais beans, chocolate pastilles, etc.
I'm sure there are loads of gourmet shops in Lyon, but we're looking for the no-frills, best quality / best value that G. Detou offers in Paris. Can anyone recommend une bonne address?
re: Scott O
There is a G Detou here. It's at 4 rue du Plat.
It's small but stocks tons of stuff. It has your tarbais beans and choc pastilles. :)
Also try Malleval - it's a wine store but in the back there's a small gourmet grocery.
I go here for flavoured mustards (balsamic vinegar and honey is my favourite); tea, and chocolate. (As well as wine, of course!) It's pricy here.
Enjoy Lyon! However - as you'll be aware if you live in Paris, things have begin to close down so many of the grocery stores may not be open during your visit. You'll have to check. I get a good workout in summer going from store to store just to buy groceries!
