Roast in slow-cooker question

Good morning. I've just put a chuck roast into the crockpot for dinner. Along with rubbed-on seasoning I cut several slits in the meat and put garlic slivers into them. Now I'm worried I'll end up with cooked meat and raw garlic pieces. It has worked in the oven, will the crockpot do the same?

  1. It will work just fine ... your garlic pieces will cook just about as thoroughly as they would in an oven when inserted into slits in a roast. That means, of course, that they won't cook to the same degree as they might when you roast a head of garlic in an oven but, nevertheless, they'll cook.

        Without the dry heat of an oven, I think the garlic will steam rather than roast, so while it won't be raw, it won't have the mellow flavor created by roasting. Hopefully the slivers were very thin.
