Wows for The Waterboy (SAC)

GroovinGourmet Jul 14, 2012 06:03 PM

Had been looking for a special occasion spot in Sacto, and The Waterboy more than delivered. The room was warm and lively, and the service could not have been better... both knowledgeable and personable.

We decided to go for a series of small plates, starting with their Deviled Eggs with the optional Deviled Shrimp. Lovely way to start the meal, with the shrimp adding a nice tang and textural contrast to the creamy yolk in the egg.

Next up was their Baby Beet Salad, filled with yummy red and golden nuggets of beety goodness.

The Maiale Tonnato was tasty, if perhaps a bit busy. It was the least impressive dish of the evening, but still way yummy.

The star of the evening was the Sweetbreads with Pork Belly. It was my dining companion's first experience and the look on her face after the first bite was almost worth the entire tab.

Highly recommended.

I agree. Also, very good lemonade and a very respectable burger.

I'm originally from Sacramento and visit there at least once a year.
Waterboy is the best restaurant I have ever been to in Sacramento.
